Why it reads as slop

Electric cyan, magenta and lime on black read as a sci-fi template. Sophisticated palettes are usually less saturated than the defaults.

Heuristic

Accents with very high saturation and lightness, especially on dark grounds; glow shadows in the accent colour.

Antidotes

• Desaturate: pull chroma down and let value contrast carry hierarchypractice
• Derive the accent from the brand, not from the colour pickerpractice
