Why it reads as slop

Two saturated hues blended across a hero or button is the fastest way to say the palette was never decided. It reads as a placeholder for a brand.

Heuristic

linear/radial/conic gradient with two or more stops that differ by more than ~30 degrees of hue, or any gradient with two high-saturation stops, on hero, section or button backgrounds.

Antidotes

• One solid base and one accent, decided on purposepractice
• Tonal wash: a single hue, lightness shifted at most ~15%practice
• Grain or paper texture instead of a colour blendpractice
